Minimizing bumpsteer on a lowered Type I Tuesday, 02-Jan-01 02:20:17 206.170.42.26 writes: I thought I read somewhere, about a special bushing being used that allowed you to move the outboard tierod ends, from the top of the spindle arm, to the bottom (with the nut now facing up). And that this would have the effect of returning the tierod angles to near stock after lowering the front end, thus minimizing bumpsteer. Anyone ever try this? Yes, it works. you need a pair of bump-steer bushes. Drill (or ream) out the taper inthe steering arm and press inthe new bushes from below. It reverses the taper and allows tie rods to be fitted from below. Not sure who sells them - maybe Kimco, Bugpack etc? (n/t) (Keith Seume) (02-Jan-01 04:03:28)
that's one the goodies from England not advertised or available in the USA, like hood & decklid seals that clip on to hood/ decklid , and soft lowered shocks (n/t) (mood) (03-Jan-01 12:34:12)

I saw this same setup on the John Maher floor pan in their project section. I'm still thinking of moving my frame head up 2" and angling a few degrees. (n/t) (Steve Arndt) (02-Jan-01 14:50:46)

An option may be to do what JCL does on there cars now. they run a single bar from spindle to spindle and then one bar from the steering box to one side. kind of like a 4X4 with a solid axle.
Although kicking the front head up may help the clearacne of the bar across the top of the tunnel

Tom,
Are you attempting this for your racer or your streeter? I've seen this done around here and, as the rest have said there dosen't seem to be a kit around. I have a friend that is a certified welder and builds chassis for Sprints,Modifieds, Street stockers and Roadsters up here.
He welds up the hole and redrills it upside down. If you want this done, E-mail me as you're not too far away from Greg & I.
Dave Nor-Cal Holleran.
