It sounds like you need to back down on the force you exert on the shifter.Man your spanking that thing almost as bad as I did in Sacto. I

ended up making a Positive stop for my shift rod,this way the slamming force goes into the stop instead of the hockey stick.I diss-connected

the shift coupler & found a thick wall pipe that slid over the shift rod.I then welded an "L" Bracket to the pipe,& bolted the bracket to the

Tunnel of the car.I then found a large thick washer to go between the shift coupler & stop,In a street car I would suggest a rubber washer to

quiet down the stop when you hit on it.I slotted the "L" bracket to adjust it so the shift rod pulls it into second gear & NO MORE.You can try

adjusting your shifter as well good luck.Call me at 503-233-0030 with any questions.
